I have been granted a show on MIT’s campus radio WMBR 88.1 FM in Cambridge, MA for the 2019 fall season. I will be on every alternate Sundays at 11 am beginning on October 6th. The next show will air this Sunday, October 20th and the following show on November 3rd and so on. You may live-stream online through the radio station’s website and also listen to the recordings from the archive.
As I was thinking about the title for the show, a print of a painting of five cranes in flight was left on my front doorstep. I was immediately reminded of the text from Hexagram 61 of the I Ching (Yijing)
A crane calling the shade.
Wilhelm/Baynes – The I Ching or Book of Changes
Its young answers it.
I have a good goblet.
I will share it with you.
The show will mostly be about overlooked or forgotten about outsider culture. This includes literature, cinema and of course music. The show is a calling to those who are familiar and those who are just learning about these subjects for the first time to participate in a conversation.
